Ordained to the office of Elder

Mason graduated on Thursday and was ordained as an Elder on Saturday morning.  Bumpa, Grammee, and Layton were all visiting for the weekend.  President Olsen came over to preside.

Call is here.... Opening at 8pm

When Mason was 7 or 8 we had the Elders serving in our ward over for dinner.  One of the Elders was from the Polynesian Islands.  Mason was completely inthralled by his stories.  He continued to ask about the people, the culture, the food, the island and the sports.  Mason could have sat all night listening to him talk about his home land.  The hour was much too short for Mason's liking.  As soon as the Elders left our home, Mason turned to me and said, "I want to serve my mission in Tonga or Samoa".  Mason has been saying that same thing for the past ten years.  His reaction to his call is priceless and a testimony that calls are made by inspiration and through the spirit.   

I have retold this story many times since Mason received his call.  One person responded that perhaps Mason's eight year old spirit was in tuned enough to know and spark his desire to serve the people on these islands.
